What Happens During a Deep Teeth Cleaning at Awesome Smiles
A deep teeth cleaning, also called scaling and root planing, treats gum inflammation by removing plaque and tartar below the gumline and smoothing tooth roots
If you are considering dental implants in Fort Lauderdale, you have likely exhausted yourself doing research on the benefits of dental implants, the procedure itself, and finding the best cosmetic dentist to help you. With all of that out of the way, it is equally important to know the tips and tricks to ensure a smooth, speedy recovery from a dental implants procedure. Let’s get you one step closer to that stunning smile that much faster.
Listen To Your Dentist / Surgeon
Be sure to note any aftercare instructions as well as medications, advised rinses, etc., from your dentist/surgeon before your procedure. After it is done, you may be too groggy to take proper note of what you need to be doing. Trust in your chosen medical professional and follow their instructions carefully. If you’re confused or concerned, get in touch with them as soon as you can.
Rest
Pushing yourself too hard after your surgery will only slow down your recovery. Take the time to listen to your body and rest as much as you can. Your body does most of its healing while you are sleeping or at the very least giving it the break it needs.
Stick To A Diet Of Soft, Nutritious Food
Your dentist/surgeon can provide you with a list of suggested foods to consume after your surgery. As a general rule, it is best to avoid hot or spicy food for the first couple of days and stick to foods that require little to no chewing, such as soups and smoothies. Eating food full of nutrients will supply your body with everything it needs to avoid postoperative complications. Be sure to drink plenty of water, too – dehydration will lead to further problems and slow recovery time.
Keep Up With Good Oral Hygiene
Although implants are not natural teeth, you must still employ good oral hygiene habits. The precise routine may vary during different stages of your recovery, but you generally want to keep your mouth clean to avoid infections. Smoking cigarettes increase your chances of implant failure and infection, so it is a good idea to kick the habit before undergoing surgery.
