Dental crowns
A dental crown fits over your natural tooth to restore its shape and functionality. Discover how a tooth crown can keep you happy and your smile healthy.
3 reasons to consider dental crowns
1. Cosmetic solution
They conceal discolored or misshapen teeth, or correct small misalignments.
2. Protective solution
They prevent breaking after a root canal or large filling, or repair cracks
3. Finishing touch
Combined with dental bridges, they fill gaps and create covers for dental implants
What is a dental crown?
Made from a variety of materials, a dental crown can give a damaged tooth a second life. Your Aspen Dental dentist will choose a crown solution based on your dental needs. While crowns vary in cost, 98% of Aspen Dental dentists recommend and prescribe crowns made from zirconia for a lasting smile.
4 steps to your new dental crown
You’ve decided that a dental crown is right for you—now, here’s what’s next
Step 1: Prep
Prep your tooth
During your first visit, your Aspen Dental care team will remove the outer portion of your tooth to prepare it for the crown.
Step 2: Scan
Impression or scan
Next, your care team or dentist will take an impression or digital scan of your tooth to create your permanent crown.
Step 3: Place
Temporary tooth
After, they’ll place a temporary crown on your tooth while you wait for your permanent crown. Allow a 2-3 week turnaround for your new tooth.
Step 4: Finalize
Permanent crown
During your second visit, they’ll place your permanent crown, make adjustments and cement it into place as a permanent part of your new smile.
