What Are Partial Dentures?

Partial dentures are an option for replacing a few teeth that you’ve lost to decay, injury, or removal. This type of replacement tooth can be easily removed from your mouth, just like a full set of dentures. There are two types of partial dentures – fixed and removable – and which you get depends mostly on your budget.

It’s important to note that partial dentures are not meant to replace all or even most of your teeth on your top or bottom jaw. That’s a job for full dentures, which replace all the teeth in your upper and/or lower jaws. Partial dentures may replace any combination of missing teeth in either of your jaws.

Benefits of Partial Dentures

There are a number of benefits of getting partial dentures, beginning with the cosmetic effects. Losing teeth can be devastating, and if it’s one or more of your front teeth, you may feel like you have to hide your smile. Partial dentures allow you to replace these teeth with convincing-looking fakes without having to get more teeth removed.

Partial dentures can also help to keep your mouth healthier by evenly distributing force from chewing across your gums. They can also prevent damage to your remaining teeth by protecting the edges from trauma, especially from chewing. And they can keep your gums healthier by covering them and protecting https://www.senpaisquad.net/ them from cuts and bruising.

Partial dentures can also make it easier for you to eat the foods you enjoy. When you’re missing teeth, you may have to stick to softer foods that are easier on your gums. You’ll even absorb more nutrition from your food since you’re able to chew it properly!

Removable Partial Dentures

There are two primary types of partial dentures: removable and fixed. Removable dentures can be slipped in and out like traditional dentures and are a good option for patients working on a limited budget. They can also be less invasive than fixed partial dentures and may allow you to add more teeth over time if you’re at risk of losing teeth in the future.

There are three different types of removable partial dentures: cast metal, flexible, and acrylic. Cast metal partial dentures have a thin metal base with acrylic teeth, while flexible partial dentures have a thermoplastic base. Acrylic partial dentures, often called flippers, are bulkier and have metal clasps to hold them in place.

Fixed Partial Dentures

Fixed partial dentures, also called bridges, are a permanent addition to your mouth. These dentures are either attached to your surrounding natural teeth or are implanted into your jaw bone. There are four primary types of bridges: traditional, Maryland, cantilever, and implant-supported.

Traditional dental bridges are supported by crowns that fit over the natural teeth on either side of the false teeth. Cantilever bridges also use crowns, but they involve only one fake tooth that’s supported by the natural tooth on one side. Maryland bridges have “wings” that attach to the back of the surrounding natural teeth, and implant-supported bridges sit on top of screws that are set into your jaw bone.

Cleaning Your Partial Dentures

If you have partial dentures, it’s very important to keep them clean and well-maintained. If you have a bridge, you should be able to maintain it the same way you do your natural teeth. Brush and floss twice a day, remember to floss underneath your bridge, too, and go to routine dental checkups.

If you have removable partial dentures, you should take them out before brushing the rest of your teeth. Don’t brush your dentures with a normal toothbrush and toothpaste. Instead, clean them with mild soap and water or a specialized cleaner or toothpaste designed for dentures, as well as a denture-specific brush.

Partial Denture Costs

Acrylic removable partial dentures, or flippers, are the cheapest type of partial denture, costing between $300 and $500 a tooth, with most people paying around $900 total for these. Flexible Valplast partial dentures usually cost between $1900 and $2,500 for the upper or lower set of teeth. Cast metal partial dentures are the most expensive type of removable partial dentures and can have a starting cost of $2,500 and up for an upper or lower set of teeth.

However, as much as removable partial dentures can cost, your dental bridge cost could run even higher. Traditional bridges usually cost between $3,000 and $5,000, depending on how many false teeth you need. Maryland bridges can be a little less expensive, at around $1,500 to $2,500, but implant-supported bridges can cost between $5,000 and $15,000.

If I could give Awesome Smiles negative stars, I would. My experience here was an absolute train wreck, and it all comes down to the rude and incompetent Patricia Viriato.

First, I was told I needed a deep cleaning, and this so-called "professional" had the nerve to claim my insurance would only cover a measly 20%. When I called my insurance directly, they informed me I was actually covered for 85%—what a shocker! When I confronted Patricia about her blatant lie, she just doubled down, insisting it was still 20%. It was like talking to a wall made of ignorance.

Feeling pressured and trapped, I reluctantly agreed to fork over $900 upfront, believing I could get reimbursed later. They even coerced me into making a down payment right then and there.

To make matters worse, my insurance denied the claim because Awesome Smiles didn’t even perform the necessary periodontal charting. Seriously, how incompetent can one office be?

When I returned to demand a refund, Patricia acted as if I was the problem. Her attitude was dismissive and infuriating. She couldn’t accept that she messed everything up. After I insisted on speaking to a manager, I was finally told they would process a refund—but honestly, it felt like they were just trying to brush me off.

Do yourself a favor and avoid Awesome Smiles like the plague. Patricia is a prime example of everything wrong with customer service—rude, uninformed, and completely unhelpful. Save your time, money, and sanity—go anywhere else!

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Isabelle and Ana! They made me feel so comfortable during my visits, which was a relief since I was a bit nervous about the amount of work I needed done. They turned what could have been a stressful experience into a wonderful one, and I truly appreciate it. They also worked with my busy schedule, and the front desk staff was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend this place—everyone I interacted with was just fantastic!

My visits here have been great! Friendly, kind staff and they made me feel comfortable from the start to finish. The service quality is truly exceptional! I'm very happy with my visits! Dental assistant Manny is very attentive and kind!
The only exception is I wish if they promise incentives to their patients for bringing new patients that they would follow through on their promise.

I am literally the biggest baby when it comes to having to go to the dentist. I am just always so nervous and scared of any and everything. The staff and doctors at Awesome Smiles totally put me at ease. I felt greeted and like a VIP from the moment I walked in the door. Dr Isabelle Morris was my Doctor and she was very patient very understanding and kept me at ease the entire time. This has been my most memorable experience at a dentist's office and I feel encouraged to follow my treatment plan. I would definitely recommend this office and will be bringing my entire family here. Another great thing is their hours of operation 8am to 8pm so so convenient. Highly Recommended.. Latoya

I can't say enough about the fabulous experience I had with Dr. Michelle Luis. A true professional in every sense, she is compassionate, empathetic, and possesses a gift that immediately puts you at ease. Her treatment approach is truly collaborative, and she never pressured me to proceed until I was ready to do so. Her skill is unmatched, attention to detail is unparalleled, and - as someone who loathes visiting the dentist - possesses such a gentle touch, that I was never reminded that I was sitting in a dentist's chair. A finer dental experience I have yet to experience. If anyone were to ask, I would certainly recommend they see Dr. Michelle Luis as quickly as they can.

The team at Awesome Smiles provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, where as going to the dentist traditionally has a negative connotation. All of the staff members are friendly and easy to get a long with. In fact, they all remember my name without hesitation. They took good care of my brother and myself. They recommended me to do the Invisalign and I am really enjoying the progress thus far with my treatment and their care.

I called originally for my partner to get a Root Canal done as an emergency visit. Awesome Smiles, was extremely accommodating to get him in next day. Other dental offices were wanting Full Payment on the day of procedure. Awesome Smiles was willing to work with us on a strict budget, we didn't have to pay for the initial visit. My partner got the Root Canal done, and then we went back a week later for the Crown to be put on. The energy of the whole office is very upbeat and everyone makes you feel as though your NOT going to a dull and boring dentist's office. We would definitely recommend to everyone. A+++++++.

I highly recommend Awesome Smiles. I have an infection in my wisdom tooth and my consultation was completely free. Got a cheap script for antibiotics until I get all 4 of my messed up wisdom teeth taken out next week and they offer non credit check payments that are reasonable. Dental work can be super expensive but what they quoted me without insurance, I feel like this is a God send and probably the best price I’ve ever seen for what I need. Everybody there from reception (Isabella) to radiology (Jasmine) to my dentist Dr.Sunny was amazing and caring. I was a bit anxious going in cause of poor treatment by medical professionals in the past, but the low cost for amazing service put me at ease immediately and I look forward to going back.
